5 Great Hobbies to get stuck into

Always on the go?

Most of us adults to spend most of our lifetimes either sleeping or working. Some people spend almost 40 to 50 hours at work, Monday to Friday, every single week. Annual leave, although a luxury, it may not feel like enough, depending on where you work of course.

Working in the health sector for me, can be demanding, challenging, however rewarding. Coming home, we may indulge in reality television or stare at our phones until bed time. In our spare time, we may also do these things, so why not explore these 5 hobbies to get stuck into during your free time.

Learn a Language or brush up on an existing language you already know

Learning a language is a great skill to have, not only does it improve career prospects abroad, it also boosts brain power. It can improve your memory, as learning a new language requires you to recall and apply the knowledge. It can sharpen your mind and it can even benefit your networking skills - imagine finding your soul mate or future business partner through the use of a different language!

Duolingo is an app where you can pick up any language you wish to learn. You have a great range of languages to pick from, from German to Korean.

Knitting or Crochet

I have recently been learning how to knit, which has been quite easy to learn due to various tutorials on YouTube - RJ Knits & Wool and The Gang. I have also loved needle related work, so knitting has been a pleasant hobby to engage in. Crochet on the other hand, only requires one needle, its said to be easier than knitting, but judge for yourself.

Online Study

Online studying is an alternative way to open up your mind and learn something new. Online learning has never been easier, thanks to apps and platforms such as LinkedIn’s Skill Share, Coursera, Udemy and Teachable. Some of these platforms have classes run by Professors in Universities across the world. Take your pick from personal development courses to coding.
