Life events have enabled major shifts for the whole world due to Covid-19. Many countries have been placed on lock down, including the United Kingdom. With shops and public places such as cafe’s and pubs being shut down - your left with the park. However, staying at home provides stability for the NHS who are doing front line battles to save lives.

Netflix and Disney Plus have been keeping me company alongside Face time Group Calls and House Party Video games. Disney Plus recently came to the UK, so I have been taking full advantage of the 7-day trial. From Disney, to Pixar to the Marvel Universe, this app has been great so far - essentially bringing back some childhood memories.

So here’s what I’ve been watching on Netflix and Disney Plus so far.

Netflix

The Crown
It explores our current Queens’ rise to the throne and how she managed it throughout the years. From common wealth tours to Prince Phillips chilling childhood and Prince Charles transition from young boy to heir apparent, this piece of drama takes you on a journey of the monarchy.

Love is Blind

The Bachelor meets Love Island in a pod style meet up. Love is Blind is a social experiment created by Vanessa and Nick Lachey. It features human beings on the quest for love and a marriage under 3 weeks. Every episode left me on a cliff hanger which had me screaming for more. If you’ve binged watched the entire series but haven’t seen the reunion, be sure to check it out.

BoJack Horseman

Although I finished watching this a while ago, I love the way that BoJack Horseman explores major mental health issues such as depression to drug addiction. Its raw and real - with animals and a few human beings here and there.

Self Made: Madame CJ Walker

This loosely based docu-series is based on Madame CJ Walker’s rise to success with her hair care formula. It was interesting to watch the colourism between CJ’s competitor “Addie Munroe”. Interestingly, Addie Munroe is a completely fictional character, and the lady who this character is loosely based upon is a dark skinned black women named “Annie Malone”. Both of these women were equally successful, however according to research, there seems to be more documentation on how Madame CJ Walker lived her life.

Disney Plus

Disney Plus has only just launched in the UK, so I’ve only watched a few things so far.

The Incredibles 2

When this came to our cinema screens in 2018, I immediately enjoyed watching it.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I’m not a huge Marvel Universe fan but I do love some action. I’ve seen a few movies here and there, but felt to watch it in order starting with the first avenger.

Phineas & Ferb

If you don’t fancy watching a film, but you’re looking for something to binge watch check out Phineas & Ferb. This was an all-time classic on Disney Channel when I was kid, so its a pleasure to have the opportunity to binge watch this again.
