Netflix & Chill - October Watch List

Warm blankets, pumpkin-spiced candles, and endless amounts of Hot Mocha, Autumn has dawned upon us.

If you have been scrolling through  Netflix and thinking about what to watch, I have got you covered.

Here are my 3 top shows that I enjoyed this October

From Scratch

Just a warning that From Scratch will have you bawling for days on end.

From Scratch follows an interracial couple - Lino a Sicilian Chef based in Italy and Amahle (Amy) who is an Art Student. Lino takes interest in Amy and after some chasing, relocates to California. The couple eventually gets married, although Lino’s family initially disapproves. Lino and his family eventually reconcile but Lino is struck with devastating news.

The story is actually based on a true book written by Tembi Locke, and is a memoir of her and her late husband Saro Gallo’s relationship.

Back to Life - 8/10

You may only be able to watch this if you are based in the UK.

Back to Life follows ‘Miri’ a middle-aged woman who was sent to prison at aged 18 for a horrible crime she commited. The story follows her reintegration back into society and her village who do not welcome her back. She tries to get a job and tries to build new relationships but has great difficulty. Eventually, the real truth about the horrible crime comes out, leaving Miri frustrated.

The Playbook: A coach’s rule’s for life - 6/10

The documentary follows 5 sports coaches from different areas of sport and the rules they play in life. Each coach reflected on different mantras or rules that have helped them to progress within their career and life.

Some key points that stood out to me were the importance of routines and the ability to keep moving forward. In life, things may knock you down but it’s important to build on your resilience and get back up after you’ve given yourself time to feel your feelings. Routines are not for everyone, but for me it keeps me grounded and focused.

Other great key points that I noted down are that risk is an opportunity and it's important to be true to yourself.

Let me know if you will be watching, and let me know what is on your Netflix to-watch list in the comments.
